Wake control of a bluff-body via distributed jets over its surface

The flow passing a circular cylinder can trigger flow-induced vibrations such as the vortex-induced vibration. In this paper, authors investigated an active method to control wake flow. scheme was achieved by blowing through structured porous surface that manufactured 3D printing precisely. momentum changed various mass rates so it defined different values of non-dimensional coefficient C ? . experimental investigation conducted in wind tunnel. A 2D particle image velocimetry system used measure global fields. Reynolds number based on D 10 000 subcritical region, where is diameter. proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) utilized reduced-order model. Experimental results showed transformations could be found POD modal characteristics and vortex shedding frequencies. Fluctuations were suppressed. Moreover, intensities turbulence kinetic energy elements stress tensor T decreased near region. It concluded jets surrounding with effective values.
